A quiet Sunday

It's a quiet day today; the ward is quiet overall, but HDU has been on the move again from its temporary home in Amazon bay back to a newly-ceilinged Monsoon bay, replete with new air conditioning. Harrison's had a good day, with the exception of a brief time while his chest drain stitches were being removed - a minor drama. Food has been polished off; both lunch and dinner, especially, have not taken long. He's quietly watching "The Pink Panther" remake and has made calls to both his grandad and grandpa. The main highlight today was brought about by a change in tack with his footwear. We'd noticed he'd been walking awkwardly in part to his crocs having no heel strap, so we brought his sandals to the ward, put them on, and suddenly we had a boy who was up and off the bed wanting a walk! Bernard trailed behind him with the wheelchair for Harrison to sit in whilst in the lifts, but otherwise he walked from the ward around the whole hospital to the coffee shop near the entrance. This was a task set by Harrison's cardiologist on Friday, so Harrison's recovered sufficiently to achieve that. The BIPAP has been used considerably less today, and Harrison's required fewer doses of paracetamol. The plan from now on, as before, is to remove dependency on the BIPAP for relief of breathlessness as the discharge criterion.

Harrison's only disappointments today were that

1. BBC2 was poorly tuned on his TV
2. The above becoming moot when we moved back to a bed space in Monsoon without an aerial point (thank goodness for the iPlayer come Monday)!
